What began as an idea shared by a few dog owners, to train dogs to help locate lost people, became Search and Rescue Dogs of Maryland (SARDOM) in 1991.
SARDOM is an all-volunteer, non-profit search and rescue unit utilizing air-scenting dogs. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to law enforcement, fire/rescue units, or any official agency. SARDOM provides its services at no cost to the requesting agency.
Law enforcement or other official agencies can activate SARDOM by calling:
1-866-930-4680
SARDOM responds only to official agencies. Private citizens wanting SARDOM's help to find missing persons are asked to call their local police or emergency services (fire and rescue) agency.
