Who we are and what we do
What began as an idea shared by a few dog owners - to train
dogs to help locate lost people - became Search and Rescue Dogs
of Maryland (SARDOM) in 1991.
SARDOM is an all-volunteer, non-profit search and
rescue unit utilizing airscenting dogs. SARDOM is available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week to law enforcement, fire/rescue units,
and relief agencies and provides its services at no cost to the
requesting agency.
Committed to the goal of providing prompt, professional
assistance, SARDOM's first priority is to save human lives. As
members of the American Rescue
Dog Association (ARDA) and the National
Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR), SARDOM is constantly
updating our members skills through workshops, training sessions,
and seminars.
