On call 24 hours, SARDOM can be activated for immediate deployment at any time during a search. In critical cases where the safety of the subject is threatened due to severe weather, age or health status, or insufficient number of volunteer searchers, early deployment of the unit to the search is vitally important.
Agencies can have SARDOM immediately deployed to the search site or placed on stand-by status as the search develops. The following information is helpful in determining the unit's response to a request:
  • location of search
  • size of search area
  • nature of search; probable live subject; probable homicide; article search
  • terrain and weather conditions
  • number of days search in progress
