Disaster / Collapsed Structure

Urban certification is to ensure a well-trained dog and handler team qualified in all essential skills necessary for deployment to the field to search for missing persons at a disaster scene. A disaster scene includes both rural and urban settings, where collapsed structures, such as buildings or downed planes, or natural materials, such as mud slides or volcanic dust, conceal the subject(s) from sight. The missing person(s) may be presumed to be alive or deceased.

Any FEMA certified dog and handler team is considered operational by SARDOM standards.

SARDOM will allow any operational Wilderness dog to train and cerifty for Disaster searches.

SARDOM follows the guidlines set forth by FEMA to ceritify dogs for Urban Disasters.
